Internet: Internet connection is required the first time you sign into the Smart Duck Reader and to download storybooks. Internet connection not required for reading storybooks.

QUICK START
After downloading and installing the Smart Duck Reader software:

Sign-In Screen - Connects the Smart Duck Reader to your account on the Smart Duck website.

Parent's Screen - Clicking the Get Books button downloads purchased storybooks onto your computer. The Read Books button enters the children's area and the Quit button exits the Smart Duck Reader.

Children's Library Screen - Click on a Cover to read that book. Click on the Small Arrow in the upper left & follow the instructions to exit the Children's Library.

Children's Book Screen - Click on the Arrow to turn the page. Click on a Highlighted Word to see and hear that word spelled out. Click on the Library Icon to return to the Children's Library screen.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Q: What is Smart Duck Reader?
A: Smart Duck Reader is a computer program that downloads, manages and displays Smart Duck Storybooks.

Q: I started the Smart Duck Reader and it wants me to sign in?
A: Enter the same email address and password from your Smart Duck website user account.

Q: I've purchased a Smart Duck Storybook / I want the Free Storybook. How is it delivered?
A: Click on the Get Books button in the Smart Duck Reader. Any new books will be downloaded to your computer. Once downloaded they will be immediately available to read.

Q: Do I have to be on-line to read Smart Duck storybooks?
A: No. You do not need to be on-line to read Smart Duck storybooks. You do need to be on-line the first time you run the software to sign-in and whenever you need to download new storybooks.

Q: Why do things look different once I click on the Read Books button?
A: Move over, you've entered the children's section of the program.

Q: How do I quit out of Smart Duck Reader?
A: From the Children's Library screen, click the arrow in the upper left corner and follow the instructions to return to the Parent's Page. Now click on the Quit button.

Q: Why the extra step to exit the Children's Library screen?
A: This was designed to keep your child in the children's area and away from your operating system. We suggest you also create a separate user account with limited privileges on your computer for greater safety.

Q: The highlighted words are out of sync with the sound. What do I do?
A: This can happen when other programs are putting a load on the processor. Quit out of all programs including the Smart Duck Reader and then restart the Smart Duck Reader.
